Exploring Motives for Celibacy: A Whole Person Discernment

$25.00

Rev. Peter Marshall, MSW, M.Div. explores discernment of celibacy as a unique call from God.

Product Description

Overview

The need to discern celibacy as a unique call from God and not merely an “add-on” to a call for religious life or priesthood is often overlooked. Rev. Peter Marshall, MSW, M.Div. provides a context for celibacy discernment, exploring the importance of examining our motives for celibacy and discerning between healthy and unhealthy motives. Participants will learn the connections between vocational and celibacy discernment, as well as examine ways to help those in formation uncover and strengthen their personal motivations for answering the call to celibacy.

Who Should Participate

Priests, deacons, men and women religious, lay ministers, and those involved in vocations, formation, or clergy and ministry personnel needs.

This workshop was presented at the Practical Models for Celibacy Formation conference, sponsored by Saint Luke Institute and Saint Meinrad Archabbey and Seminary and School of Theology. Browse other presentations from the conference here.
