Learning Outcomes

Participants will:

  1. Explore how mindfulness practice enhances our interactions with others;
  2. Identify mindful ways to increase compassion for self and others; and
  3. Learn three mindful approaches for navigating challenging relationships.

Who Should Participate

Priests, deacons, men and women religious, lay ministers, and those involved in vocations, formation, or clergy and ministry personnel needs.

Questions for reflection and discussion prior to the learning session are provided below.

  1. Reflect on one relationship in your life where you find communication difficult. What are typical misunderstandings that occur in this relationship?
  2. What are some habitual criticisms that you make of yourself? What judgments do you make of the other person in this relationship?
  3. If you are currently practicing mindfulness, what effects do you observe in your relationships with those closest to you?
